A couple of issues -W41

Postby TNT76 » Tue Aug 30, 2005 5:50 pm

Got a couple of issues whilst tuning a s/c V6 stato.
This thing has tha FIT intercooler and 17 PSI kit on it so should get the numbers.
First issue is the boost, once the KAL pcm was installed I cant get any more than 5psi out of it. Looked through all the BYP settings and they all seem to be in order in the stock cal CKUM.w41 so unhooked the vac hose off the Byp valve and boost jumped to 12psi at the engine side of intercooler.
Secondly, cant get more than 14degrees at idle
any ideas?

Also with the idle, The SPK BAS IAC ,all the load points are at around 29 deg from memory and the SPK BAS NOK at 800rpm are well above the 14deg i'm getting on the gauge screen. Theres no clt correction involved or IAT correction, the idle rpm sits around the desired 800 with around 30 steps at the iac motor, so I wouldnt have thought IPS is kicking in.
Havent spent alot of time on it yet but i'm nearly out of ideas.

ok, worked out the idle timing thing, it was the idle spk bas which is set at -15 plus the 29 degrees for the iac spk equals 14 total.
Havent worked out the boost thing yet.

Sometimes just seeing your questin written down makes it that much easier to figure out. Or not.

It wasnt my car and I didnt fit it all up, but from memory with the smaller pulley it would of needed a shorter belt. but because it had the intercooler adaptor plate under the blower which lifts it all up a couple of inches the stock belt was the right length.
When i finished with it, it made just under 200kw at the wheels and a shit load of torque down low. It was a great package, unfortunatly the guy sold it, so I cant follow it up to see how it's going now.

I think if you look at your files that are supplied on floppy discs you'll find that the driveline spark retard variable has been deleted. Could be wrong though and would always like to find out how to turn it off!!
